Welcome to the start of our journey! In this session, we’ll set ourselves up for success by focusing on posture and connection in our Blues partner dancing. We’ll work on heightening our body awareness and unlocking different body alignments (e.g. contra- as widely requested!). We’ll use these as both individual decoration for leaders and followers, and as functional tools to generate movements that flow. We’ll play with the fun but tricky sensation of torsion and challenge ourselves with intrabody movement, bringing this together in practising a Blues idiom dance, Strut.

Level-Up Your Blues Dancing with the Stompin’ the Blues team!

Join the Stompin’ the Blues team for a series of fun workshops designed to elevate your Blues partner dancing. These intensive 3-hour sessions are perfect for dancers with existing Blues experience who are ready to move at a fast pace, dive deep into key concepts, and expand their creativity and self-expression.

Throughout the series, you’ll develop confidence and refine your skills in higher-level vocabulary, techniques, styling, and musicality. By the end, you’ll be dancing with greater fluidity, exploring different alignments, harnessing momentum for dynamic movement, and deepening your connection to both the music and Blues values. You’ll also leave with a clear understanding of your own dance journey and ideas for further growth.

The workshops follow a progressive syllabus but can also be taken individually if you’re unable to attend the full series.

No partner required as we’ll rotate during class. Spaces are limited to ensure plenty of room for movement—book in advance to secure your spot!
