Chris Gammie
“Home boy”, as Scott calls him, Chris was born and raised in London – both in the traditional and dancing sense! Chris claims to have been a Lindyholic within one week of starting dancing – hooked instantly by the energy, musicality and sheer joy of dancing lindy hop. Managing his addiction ever since, he’s danced all over London and is frequently spotted at many of the great swing events on offer in this fantastic city.
Chris started dancing Lindy Hop in London in 2005 and his passion for the dance has made him a regular on the dance floor at many of the UK’s awesome lindy exchanges and other swing events. He’s also travelled to Europe and the USA in pursuit of perfecting the swing out, with his love for the dance cemented at Swing Out New Hampshire in 2006 and reinforced by a return trip in 2008. Ever since, he’s brought the smooth connection and flowing energy taught there to his dancing.
Chris performed in a London based performance troupe between 2008 and 2009, and teaches at a new lindy scene in Tunbridge Wells (Kent) on a Wednesday evening. You’re also likely to hear him spinnin’ some swing as a regular on London’s swing-DJ circuit. Now he joins Swing Patrol – and in his owns words, is “exceptionally excited to give back to Londoners the joy and passion I feel for this amazing dance”. Chris will be teaching at Swing Patrol’s Soho venue from March 2010.
