Angel - The Florence (50 Florence Street, Angel N1 2DU)

Hello everyone! Here's the layout of our classes each week at Angel:

7:00pm - Total Beginners swing dancing class - £8 for the hour!
You don't need to know ANY swing dancing, and you can come whenever you like, as we teach the basics every week as well as some fun things to do with it!

8:00pm - Practice / Free time - FREE
15 minutes of fun to chill out, grab a pint, and absorb what you’ve learnt or prepare for the next class.

8:15pm - Level 2 Swing Class - £8, or £4 if doing both classes
This level presumes understanding of the swing rhythms we teach in the Level 1 class: Side-by-side & Tandem Charleston, 6-beat and 8-beat Lindy Hop. If you are a level 2 dancer but are rusty on a rhythm, just ask us for a refresher before class :-)

9:15pm - Stay and have a dance! - FREE
We love how many of you stay and dance each week, so let's keep it up... We'll put the music on, you get to dance with your fellow class-mates and practice anything you like! Grab a drink, grab someone for a dance, and enjoy the night. We'll be around to help with any questions, and please ask us for a dance!!

If you think your friends might enjoy some swing dancing, bring them on down for a class and you will benefit too! For the next few weeks if you bring along a friend (LEAD or FOLLOW) who hasn't been to Angel before, we will give you your class half price! If you can find three Angel virgins to bring along, it's FREE for you!

Bring any friends down who you think might like it, we love to meet new people! Remember, we teach the basic steps every week...

Monday 2nd August: Guest teachers: Carl (Aus) & Paula (Ireland)

Level 1:
Mix and Match! We reviewed our six beat and changed our pumps into triple steps. We then had the choice of a send out, kick-up’s and a change of place.
We also manoeuvred a double hand hold into an overarm turn.
All of these were left up to you to decide which one to choose, including your send-out’s into closed and open positions.
A great way to start to master your social dancing skills!

Level 2:
Level 2’s took the next step from side by side Charleston into an open and turn Charleston! Leads then changed hand hold to make it a hand to hand Charleston!
But how to get out of it?! We did a kick-up into a rockstep, leading a “J” turn into six beat and back to side by side Charleston.
To challenge us even more, we then did a swingout from closed position (lead jumps in front on 3&4).

You guys looked awesome!

Coming up Monday 9th August: -Guest teachers: David (London) & Paula (Ireland)
Level 1: **Tandem Charleston** No experience necessary! We’ll have you busting out this vintage dance in no time and bopping along to tunes that will swing hard from start to end. We'll be doing some brand new moves, so even if you've learnt this rhythm before, come and get some extra technique and cool moves.
Level 2: **8-Beat Lindy Hop** With Ben in Spain & Janet in Iceland (wow!), our super-dooper guests will have some great (and different!) stuff to show you so don't miss out!

Coming up Monday 16th August:
Level 1: **Tandem Charleston** No experience necessary! We’ll have you busting out this vintage dance in no time and bopping along to tunes that will swing hard from start to end. We'll be doing some brand new moves, so even if you've learnt this rhythm before, come and get some extra technique and cool moves.
Level 2: **8-Beat Lindy Hop** Ben & Janet are BACK IN THE HOUSE! And after 2 weeks swinging their socks off are ready to bring some of the cool things they learnt to SP Angel from the far reaches of the globe.
