Ragbag and six beat

()
25 Feb 2010

Hi All,

This week we were upstairs again but in a bigger room so it was nice and roomy!! Thanks for special guest Gary (not Alan) for helping out. Here's a recap and the plan for this week:

Level 1 (Beginners)
We did a few more 'changes of place', just about every variation we know I think we covered!! Well done all. This week (25 Feb) is our last week of 6 beat... this time with triple steps!!! More steps in the same amount of time - up for the challenge? I'm sure you all are.

We'll be moving onto Charleston moves for the next 4 weeks after this week. Of course we will be assuming no prior knowledge for our level 1 classes so come along one and all.

Level 2 (Intermediates)
Everyone did really well in our tandem class, some cool moves and the challenge is set to try to a whole song of tandem moves!

This week we have "Ragbag" - some things we haven't yet figured out how to classify properly...

Err, welcome to our odd collection of moves class. This will piece together moves that don't seem related but all of them will help you think about leading and following from different points, and work on frame and connection. Some of the moves we want to cover include switches, continuous turns and swing outs with washington/maxie slide at the end.

The following weeks we have planned....

Wrap me up baby it's cold outside...
Theme: Wraps and passbys

This class is all about moves that wrap and unwrap. We'll teach you how to lead these and the world of possibilities that they start to open up for your dancing - using new connection points and momentum.

Just Not Swinging? Time for dance surgery!
Theme: Swing outs

Get one of those two left feet replaced with a right one... Okay, not really. This "surgery" class will work on your swing outs and lindy circles. We will look at connection and momentum, and give you some secrets to make this work smoothly and easily. This class will be focused on YOU - even more than the rest of the series! We will be dancing with you a lot and dissecting your swing outs!

Look forward to seeing you there

Sarah and Alan
