Bring on the Intermediates!

Southwark - Thai Silk (94/95 Isabella St (off Joan St) Southwark SE1 8DA)
11 Feb 2010

Hello,

This week we are excited to be starting our series of intermediate classes in Southwark.  Each week we will have a theme - either a move or a technique which we will build upon - ensuring that you have got a good grasp of the basic move before moving onto exciting and challenging variations on it!  Outline timetable below.

This week we will be looking at tandem or shadow charleston - getting you into it clearly and comfortably, getting you out of into other moves and some cool things to do while you are there...  The class will be very much about you whether you have been dancing for a while or are just moving into intermediate classes.  We aim to dance in the rotation as much as possible and make sure that you are doing well with the moves.  This form of charleston is often a little intimidating since it looks complicated to get into and out of, and doing stuff while you are there often doesn't seem much easier!  We will be removing the fear!

Intermediate classes will start at 8.15 and run for an hour-and-a-quarter, they will be drop-in classes though classes later in the series will be easier if you have attended the earlier ones!  If you are thinking of moving up to intermediate classes and aren't sure about levels, please feel free to drop one of us an email - alan@swingpatrol.co.uk or sarah@swingpatrol.co.uk.

Last week in the beginners' class we finished our short run of charleston by destroying a few grey cells!  The offending material can be found on the Swing Patrol YouTube channel here

This week in the beginners' class at 7pm we will be teaching 6-count themed material - as we will for the next 4 weeks.  As for all weeks, we will be assuming no prior knowledge of anything - except the ability to walk through the door (and to open it first.)  No partner is required - just turn up and dance!

Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Alan & Sarah

Tentative Series Outline (subject to last minute changes due to snow, illness, mood swings, leaves on the dancefloor or goldfish):

A Charleston Made for Two (part 1 of 2)

Theme: Tandem Charleston

Do you love Tandem Charleston but can't quite get the follow to follow it?
Or, do you sometimes miss this when it's led on you?  We can fix this. Plus
give you a load of alternative entries and exits that can be led socially.

A Charleston Made for Two (part 2 of 2)

So you can get into and out of Tandem Charleston - what now?  We'll give
you some more great moves from this cool position.

leading and following from different points, and work on frame and
connection.
